Kitchen FloorsWhen choosing kitchen floors there are many options available to you: Vinyl: When you choose vinyl, you willl need chose from the nearly endless options of colors and patterns. You will ll never have to worry about water discoloring the floor. Vinyl floors require no maintenance other than sweeping and mopping and they resists scuffs and stains too. Laminate: Laminate flooring resembles hardwood or stone while still offering the same maintenance of vinyl. Laminate flooring is great because it doesn't get damaged by liquids like a real wood floor would, is extremely durable and can handle those areas where you get a lot of traffic in your home. And, it's only a fraction of the cost of real wood. Stone: The most common stones for the kitchen floor are granite, marble, and slate. Stone is one of the toughest and most durable flooring for the kitchen. Ceramic Tile: Ceramic tiles are made from pressed clays covered with a glaze of metallic oxides and ceramic stains or finished with a matte surface. Porcelain mosaic tiles are baked at a higher temperature, which makes them thicker. The spaces between the tiles are filled in by grout. Ceramic tile is available in a variety of different sizes, patterns, and colors. It's very durable, and stain resistant; no special cleaning is required other than sweeping and mopping. Wood: Wood flooring is amazingly beautiful and looks great in just about any kitchen. Oak and maple are the most common choices for kitchen flooring. Wood floors are very easy to maintain by just vacuuming or sweeping. Linoleum: Linoleum flooring is great if you are looking for the quiet, smooth, comfortable look and feel. It's very durable, hard to dent and is environmentally friendly. Concrete: Concrete flooring is just as durable as tile and stone and is great when you choose to install radiant heat. There are several colors and finishes in concrete flooring. Carpet: If you would like to place carpeting in your kitchen work area, choose something durable, such as a tight Berber made out of a stain-resistant material like olefin. We don't recommend this type of flooring, but if you are more concerned with being quiet and comfortable this is the choice for you.
